Toyohama Station Azalea Festival

In spring, 250 red and pink azaleas fill the platform of JR Toyohama Station. Toyohama Station was chosen as the best station in Japan in a national contest for stations with beautiful flowers, and thanks to the volunteer efforts of residents’ associations who take care of the station several times a year, beautiful azaleas bloom in early May. On the day of the festival, a variety of events are held in front of the station, including a rice cake pounding contest, flea market, open-air flower and vegetable market, blood donation, and bazaar. Yomogi rice cakes made from picked mugwort are so popular and fragrant that they sell out in no time. Please come and try it for yourself.
