It is located on the approach to Kotohiki Hachimangu Shrine in Kannonji City.
It is said to be the place where Minamoto no Yoshitsune prayed for victory in battle, and it is said that he dedicated a torii gate and sacred horse.
This wooden torii gate was dedicated after the Battle of Yashima in 1185, and although it has been reinforced with stones and other materials, it has stood here for nearly 800 years.
