Toyohama Local History Museum

The Toyohama Folk Museum introduces and exhibits the history and culture of the town of Toyohama, its industry, agriculture, and lifestyle with actual materials. Visitors can also learn about the history of cotton, one of the Sanuki Sanpaku (three whites of Sanuki), and experience spinning and weaving. The Toyohama Museum of History and Culture holds an annual Toyohama Museum of History and Culture Supporter Training Course, where visitors can learn about the history of cotton and the process of making cotton yarn through practical skills and other activities. Advance reservations are required for the hands-on experience.

(Awai-Himehama line, Gogo Takamuro line, Minoura-Kannonji line) Take the pubric bus from JR Kannonji Station and tell the driver to go to “Chousa Kaikan” or “near Suga intersection. pubric buses do not have bus stops, and you can get on and off anywhere on the route. (However, you are not allowed to get on and off the bus on Route 11 except at designated spots.)

1F|There is a hands-on corner where visitors can experience the world of warm cotton by spinning yarn with a spinning wheel, an old-fashioned tool.
2F|The exhibition focuses on “wadding,” one of the Sanuki Sanpaku, and visitors can learn about the history of wadding and the process of making cotton yarn in an easy-to-understand manner.
