Hagi Festival

The Hagi Festival is held annually in late September at two venues: Hagiwaradera Temple and Hagi no Oka Park or Onohara Central Park. At Hagiwaradera, the main site of the festival, approximately 2,500 purple and white hagi flowers are in full bloom, and an outdoor tea ceremony is held to enjoy the beauty of the hagi flowers and elegant koto (Japanese harp) performances. In addition, stage events will be held at Hagi no Oka Park or Onohara Central Park, where marching band performances, belly dancing, and taiko drum performances will be performed. Participatory projects such as a blessing toss and an open-air market will also be held, adding to the atmosphere of the festival. Both venues have their own charms, so please visit both.
