The Sanuki Toyohama Chosa Festival is held for three days from the second Friday of October every year to pray for a good harvest and a good catch of fish.
The parade of the Chosa, richly decorated with gold thread embroidery, is a spectacular sight to behold as the bearers, dressed in happi coats, parade through the district, competing with each other at the Otabisho and the plaza.
At night, lanterns are lit, creating a different atmosphere from that of the daytime.
On the third day, the finale of the festival, a competition among 23 taikodai is held, and the sight of all 23 taiko drummers working together in unison with their hearts in the air, along with their vigorous shouts, is a sight to behold and the most exciting part of the festival. Come and see the powerful performance.
