Kannonji Festival|Kotohiki Hachimangu Shrine Autumn Grand Festival

The Kannonji Festival is held for three days, ending on the third Sunday of each year. Friday is called Yoimatsuri (evening festival), during which chosa (floats) are paraded through each district. On Saturday and Sunday, the festival begins in the afternoon and the chosa are dedicated. The dedication of the chosa has been a tradition since the Edo period (1603-1867), and is still carried out according to detailed regulations even today. On the day of the festival, the area around Kotohiki Hachiman Shrine’s Shinkouden is lined with food stalls, attracting many people. The fireworks display on Saturday night is one of the highlights of the festival every year.
