The Namikiri Fudoson, located in the northwest of Ibukijima, is affectionately called “Fudosan” by the islanders, and a cherry blossom festival is held in early April.
The cherry blossoms on the sunny hillside are at their best in early April, while those on the north-facing slope by the sea are at their best about a week later.
The arch of cherry trees planted along the road from Takinomiya Shrine to Namikiri Fudoson is beautiful, and the leisurely view of cherry blossoms on the hillside, which looks like a mountain village, changes as you walk down the slope, with the Seto Inland Sea in the background, and you will never get tired of the scenery.
Many birds, including white-eyes, can be seen flitting about the branches in search of nectar, allowing visitors to fully enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
