Hydrangea|Awai Shrine

Around 1985, the Awai Community Association and the City Event Council began planting hydrangeas, and today, some 50 varieties and 3,000 hydrangeas are in full bloom from June to July. For this reason, Awai Shrine is also known as “Hydrangea Shrine” or “Hydrangea Temple”. The “Hydrangea Festival” is held every June, and many people enjoy the colorful blue, purple, pink and other flowers of hydrangeas on the shrine grounds and on the slopes of the hill behind the shrine.
*The festival may be canceled due to recent circumstances.
